The jersey market has started
to stir and it’s definitely had our readers buzzing. Both good and bad.
I’ll let the readers
decide which is good or bad:

The New Orleans Zephyrs information
I gave out in the last column appears to be inaccurate. I tried reaching Daniel Herndon with the Zephyrs only to find
out that he is no longer with the team. Unfortunately, that puts a damper on a very promising situation. Stay
tuned.
I picked up the phone last
week to talk to Krista Oberlander of the Columbus Clippers. When I asked her
when the team’s jerseys were going to go on sale, she was a bit caught off guard.
The jerseys had gone on sale that day. And, boy, did they move. By the time I got there, the only home jerseys left were XXL. Still,
at $100, it was a great deal. Unfortunately, the team does not have the patches
that were removed from the jersey so, now it looks like less of a good deal.
The Swing of the Quad Cities get the nod for most unique jersey
sold so far this season. I actually received mine today and it’s great. They could use some nameplate work but the jersey won’t disappoint. At $125 for the home and $80 for decent batting practice jersey, they should move fairly well. Kristen Beckers was one of the best to work with this season and can be reached at
(563) 324-3000.
Also at the top of the list is Cristal Rollins with the Frisco Roughriders. What
a class act. She was extremely helpful to me and all of my requests. Plus, the money benefits the Roughriders Foundation. Cristal’s
number is (972) 334-1906 or crollins@ridersbaseball.com
I was both happy and sad when
I contacted Jason George with the Tulsa Drillers. Jason is one of the good guys
in Minor League Baseball and the club has acknowledged that by promoting him to Assistant General Manager. You won’t find a better guy. Sliding into his spot is
Tom Jones (no, not that Tom Jones). Tom was great to work with. The only unfortunate thing is they saddled Tom with a $150 price tag for common player jerseys. The bigger-named players are going to be available for auction. Call Tom at (918) 877-3710.
Speaking of $150 price tags, the Midwest League’s West Michigan Whitecaps
also donned a $150 price on their game-worn jerseys this year. I’m
glad I bought one for $125 last season.
The greatest website around (besides this one) – www.milb.com
– finished their auction for the black BP jerseys from the Indianapolis Indians.
Any of you who know me know that home jerseys are my thing but what intrigued me was the stadium’s anniversary
patch. I had to purchase one.
The Orem Owlz also put up their jersey for sale at www.oremowlz.com.
I have not received mine as of yet but I am looking forward to it.
The Cedar Rapids Kernels also
have jerseys for sale. At $100, they are priced to move.
Speaking of "priced to move", Chris Bitters of the
Bakersfield Blaze threw his home jerseys on their website - www.bakersfieldblaze.com
- for a cool $85 each. Call Chris in the Blaze office at 661-716-4487.
I did receive a couple of “no’s” during my
search. The Clearwater Threshers are not selling any jerseys to the public this
year and I’ve had no response from the slippery Triple-A Champion Tucson Sidewinders.
It’s unfortunate, but at least it seems like there’s hope with the Threshers.
There are several other teams that will be making
jerseys available soon. Keep checking back and I will update you as I know.
Also, thanks to all of the
readers who gave me a head’s up on many of the teams you see listed here.
Until Next Time,
Kyle Smith
